Dec. 19, 2022 - Claiming the first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week award for the Cardinals this season, North Central College women's basketball senior Mitrese Smith earned the honor for her performance in the Cardinals win over Elmhurst University on Saturday.

In North Central's 76-58 victory over the Bluejays, Smith tallied her second career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, including a 9 of 12 mark from the free throw line. Every game Smith has started this season, the senior has scored in double figures.

Smith is the 13th Cardinal to earn a CCIW Player of the Week honor, and first since 2018.

North Central travels to Florida for the Sunshine Shootout on December 27th with their first game against Mount Aloysius College at 3 p.m. (ET).
