La Crosse, Wis. (Dec. 3, 2022) - The North Central College men's wrestling team traveled to La Crosse, Wisconsin to compete in their fourth and fifth duals of the season. The Cardinals fell just short losing 20-25 going up against the third ranked University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse on Saturday morning at Mitchell Hall. 

The Cardinals started strong, winning the first four matches of the dual. Julian Valtierrez started off winning by fall over UW-LaCrosse's #8 ranked Brandon Murphy in the third round. Robert Precin would follow that up with a win by tech fall over UW-Lacrosse's Cael Weinzweig. Bradley Rosen would also win by tech fall over Sam Lorenz. Javen Estrada would win by major decision over Tyler Goebel to round out the Cardinal scorers of the dual. 

Alex Villar went up against the No. 3 ranked Nolan Hertel and would lose by decision in a close 2-3 match. Joey Jens also went up against the No. 3 ranked Seth Brossard and would lose by fall in the 174-pound match. Payton Geigner would also lose by fall over the No. 13 ranked Kayln Jahn. In the last ranked match of the dual, Elijah Brockie would end up losing by major decision to the No. 1 ranked Ben Kawczynski.



La Crosse, Wis. (Dec. 3, 2022) - The North Central College men's wrestling team would face Coe College in their fifth dual of the season and would win 29-9.

Christian Guzman started off the dual with a win by decision over Coe College's Cade Hornback. Precin would also win by decision (4-1) over the No. 15 ranked Alex Friddle. Rosen would win by major decision in the 141 pound match over Bryce Parks. In the 149 pound match, Estrada would win by fall over the No. 11 ranked Riley Wright in the first round. 

Villar would follow that up with a win by major decision over Coe College's Dylan Falck. In the 165 pound match, Cole Cervantes would win by decision (9-7) over the No. 7 ranked Will Esmoil. Jens also won by decision (9-6) over the No. 15 ranked LJ Richardson to give the Cards a 26-0 lead. 

We would end up falling in the 184 pound match to the No. 12 ranked wrestler (Tristan Westpahl) and we would lose the 197 pound match to the No. 7 ranked wrestler (Jake Voss) from Coe College. Robby Bates would close out the dual with a win by decision over Matt Arsenault to give the Cardinals a 29-9 victory over Coe College.


The North Central College men's wrestling team (4-1, 3-0 CCIW) return to the mats Saturday as they host the 58th annual North Central College Invitational. The tournament is set to start at 9am inside Res/Rec.
