D3baseball.com Week 3 Poll
March 15, 2022 - The North Central College baseball team comes in at No. 5 in the country for the latest edition of the D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25, the organization released on Tuesday morning.
Marietta, who beat the Cardinals on Friday, jumps ahead to No. 1 while Cortland falls to No. 2 after being ranked No.1 all season. Birmingham Southern sits at No. 3, Eastern Connecticut at No. 4, and the Cardinals at No. 5. North Central remains the lone CCIW school to appear in the Top 25. The poll is based on games played through Sunday, March 13th.
After dismantling Saint John's 18-0 on Friday morning, the Cardinals fell to three straight ranked opponents in No. 2 Marietta, No. 8 Webster, and No. 22 Denison.
Nationally, North Central ranks 13th in the country in batting average (.370), 18th in slugging percentage (.590), and 19th in home runs (13). The pitching staff has put together the 24th best strikeouts per nine innings at 11.6 and 47th best earned run average in the country at 3.62.
The Cardinals face Sewanee today down in Port Charlotte, Fla. as they play their fifth game in as many days. The first pitch is set for 12 PM (ET) on Centennial Park Field (C9).
