NVA/AVCA Rankings - Week 9

Mar. 15, 2022 - The North Central College men's volleyball team held onto its No. 5 ranking in the National Volleyball Association / American Volleyball Coaches Association (NVA/AVCA) Division III National Rankings. The NVA/AVCA Week Eight coaches poll was released on Tuesday.

The Cardinals have extended their season record to 14-1 after finishing 3-0 last week. North Central took down College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) opponent, Millikin University in three sets on Wednesday before hosting North Park University and Fontbonne University on Saturday.

Taking North Park in three sets and Fontbonne in four, three Cardinals found themselves in single-match record columns. Matt Nealon's 46 assists rank second in a four-set match, while Jared Moser's 18 kills are third, and Nathan Jones's six blocks rank fourth in four-set matches.

The CCIW has representation in Week Nine with No. 3 Carthage and No. 5 North Central.

Springfield returned to its No. 1 spot in the rankings dropping Dominican down to No. 2. Ranks three through eight stayed the same with Carthage, Vassar, North Central, Stevens, Southern Virginia, and Rutgers-Newark. The later half of the rankings saw the most change with Wentworth in ninth and SUNY New Paltz in tenth. Rounding out the top-15 were Stevenson, Marymount, California Lutheran, St. John Fisher, and Juniata.

The Cardinals travel to Bloomington, Ill. on Friday for a CCIW match against Illinois Wesleyan University. Match time at the Shirk Center is set for 7 p.m.
