DANVILLE, Ky. (Mar. 16, 2022) -  Playing in their second game of their three game spring break trip, the North Central College women's lacrosse team fell in their third consecutive game as the Colonels of Centre College beat them 17-9 on a cloudy afternoon inside Amend Field.

The Colonels (3-4) jumped out to an early lead scoring the first ten goals of the contest before Abby MacKenzie got the Cardinals (1-4, 0-0 CCIW) on the board with just under four minutes left in the half. Reese McMullen would score with 15 seconds left in the half off an assist from Berit Vandenbroucke, the Cardinals would go into halftime trailing 12-2.

Raygn Jordan got the Cardinals offense rolling in the second half as she tallied her first goal of the game cutting the Colonels lead to nine. After another Colonels goal, Ellie Yonak would cut the lead to nine once again with just seven minutes remaining in the third. The Colonels would go on a three goal run to end the third quarter and extend their lead to 16-4 heading into the final quarter of play. Tanya Czosek would lead a four goal stretch as she tallied two of the four goals cutting the lead to 16-8 with under seven minutes remaining. After a Colonels goal, Czosek would tally her third goal of the game with one minute remaining but it was not enough as the Cardinals fell 17-9.

Czosek led the Cardinals with three goals while Jordan, Abby Tointon, Yonak, MacKenzie, McMullen and Lucy Culig each tallied one goal. Julia Clarke led the defense with five caused turnovers and two ground balls. Abigail Widd tallied ten saves as she fell to 1-4 on the season.

The Cardinals are back in action on Friday as they travel to Wilmore, Ky. in their final game of their 2022 spring break trip to take on Asbury University. The opening faceoff is set for 3 pm (EST) inside the AU Lacrosse Field.
