Mar. 9, 2022 - Playing in Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium for the first time this season, the North Central College men's lacrosse team dropped their second straight game, falling to the Albion College Britons tonight 13-8.
The Cardinals (1-2, 0-0 CCIW) jumped out to an early lead as the Cardinals forced a turnover in Albion's zone before
Luke Illgen would find a wide open net putting the Cardinals up 1-0 just 30 seconds into the game. Just four minutes later,
Tom Eberhardt tallied his 12th goal of the season off an assist from
Dylan Andersen putting the Cardinals up 2-1. Albion would score four unanswered goals and would head into the half with a 5-2 lead.
Albion would add to their lead with two goals within 20 seconds of themselves in the third quarter before
Scott Allgood would get the Cardinals back on the board cutting Britons lead to four. The Britons offense would go on another run scoring five unanswered goals extending their lead to 12-3.
Jackson Biltz would get the Cardinals back on the board off an assist from
Samuel Russchenberg cutting the lead to eight. Eberhardt would score his second goal of the game to bring the score to 13-5. Allgood and
Nick Rubino would tally two more goals but the late surge was not enough as the Britons would defeat the Cardinals 13-8.
Rubino, Eberhardt and Allgood each had two goals while Blitz and Illgen each had one goal. Moran and Russchenburg tallied an assist each while Andersen went 8-17 at the face-off circle and
Zach Kuyava went 3-5.
Jake Allgood tallied 14 saves as he dropped to 1-2 on the season.
The Cardinals starts their spring break with a trip to Wooster, Ohio to take on The College of Wooster on Saturday Mar. 12. The opening face-off is set for 11 am (12 pm EST) inside John P. Papp Stadium.
