DECATUR, Ill. (Mar. 9, 2022) - The North Central College men's volleyball team clinched their ninth sweep of the season to extend their record to 12-1 after defeating Millikin University 3-0 on Wednesday in the Griswold Center.

The Cardinals took the lead in set one early on thanks to a kill and service ace by Austin Scott to bring the score to 4-2. Jared Moser threw down three kills to extend the Cardinal lead to 14-7 while Jake Miller put down two more to end set one 25-15.

Much like set one, set two saw an early lead by North Central but Millikin battled to keep the score within their reach. With the score at 8-7 in favor of the Cardinals, a few errors by the Big Blue and a kill by Hayden Coday put North Central up 12-7. Luke Schmidt had three kills in the second half of set two, helping the Cardinals to another 25-15 set win.

A pair of kills by Scott and Cooper Lundal connected with a service ace by Tyler Donovan to bring the Cardinals to a 14-8 lead in set three. With the Big Blue looking to make a slight push, Michael Szews paired a kill and a service ace making the score 21-15. Two kills by Ben Pluskota and a block by Lundal and Coday secured the third set win for North Central, 25-19.

North Central was led by Scott and Schmidt with six kills each. Donovan and Matt Nealon split tonight's assists with 14 and 11 set assists, respectively. Donovan also raked in three service aces. Pluskota tallied seven digs on the night to lead the Cardinals defensively.

For the Big Blue, Connor Fosselius led with six kills while Robbie Maida had all 15 of the team's set assists. Jensen Mast led defensively with six digs.

North Central hosts a triangular on Saturday against North Park University at 12 p.m. and Fontbonne University at 5 p.m. North Park and Fontbonne will contest a neutral site match at 2:30 p.m.
