DECATUR, Ill. (Apr. 1, 2022) - Taking on Millikin University to kick off College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play, the North Central College men's tennis team beat the Big Blue 7-2 on Friday afternoon.

Javier Suarez Balsera and Morgan Red secured the first win in doubles play for the Cardinals with an 8-1 win in the No. 3 spot. At first singles, Ramon Vilarroig Martinez and Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez rolled to an 8-2 win before Millikin won No. 2 doubles.

After Millikin earned their second win of the day at No. 3 singles, North Central took over and beat Millikin in every remaining singles match. Suarez Balsera won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 while Colten Way cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Clinching the win for North Central was Vilarroig Martinez with a comeback 3-6, 6-1, 10-2 win at first singles. Matthew Sengphommachanh and Andy Hinch won their respective matches to give the Cardinals their first CCIW victory of the season.

North Central continues CCIW play tomorrow by taking on Illinois Wesleyan at 10 AM in Bloomington before facing Principia at 1 PM. The matches will be played at Evergreen Racquet Club and you can find a live video link to those matches HERE.
