LISLE, Ill. (Apr. 10, 2022) - Playing their first match outdoors this season, the North Central College men's tennis team defeated the Augustana College Vikings 9-0 on Sunday at Benet Academy Tennis Courts to improve to 18-2 on the year and 4-0 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play.

Andy Hinch and Colten Way kicked off doubles play with an 8-2 win at No. 2 before Javier Suarez Balsera and Morgan Red earned an 8-3 win. To take a 3-0 lead into singles play, the No. 1 doubles team of Ramon Vilarroig Martinez and Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez took down Arthur Hermange and Leonardo Panosso, 8-5.

Vilarroig Martinez and Suarez Balsera each recorded wins in singles play to clinch the victory for North Central. Red secured a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 5 spot while Matthew Sengphommachanh won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4. Also earning wins for the Cardinals was Hinch with a 7-6, 6-3 win, and Way who earned a hard-fought 6-4, 6-7, 10-8 win in the No. 3 spot.

North Central continues CCIW action on Friday at Benet Academy Tennis Courts in Lisle, Ill. The match is set to begin at 11 AM.
