2021-2022 All-Region Selections

Apr. 12, 2022 - Three North Central College men's volleyball student-athletes were named 2022 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III All-West Region selections as senior Matt Nealon and juniors, Jared Moser and Jeremy Cardenas earned accolades after their efforts this season. 

This is the third year of AVCA All-Region selections but the first year consists of four regions. Each region has 14 members of their respective All-Region teams, who are now all eligible for All-American selections announced later this month.

Nealon earns his first All-Region selection after ranking within the top five in Division III and second in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) for most of the regular season in assists per set (9.99). Nealon's 749 assists this season rank second in program history.

Moser is the first in Cardinal history to earn three consecutive All-Region selections in addition to three All-CCIW selections. The junior outside hitter has led the team in kills throughout the season while averaging 3.53 kills per set, ranking second in the CCIW. Moser recently notched the program record in single-season kills (258) and service aces (34) during the CCIW Championship match on Saturday.

Cardenas received his first All-Region honor this year after leading the team and the CCIW in blocks all season with 0.90 blocks per set. The junior middle blocker also sat atop the CCIW in hitting percentages for most of the season and currently holds a .437. Cardenas's 62 blocks this season ranks second in program history. 

North Central has rewritten the history books this season with individual records as well as team records, gaining their highest national ranking at No. 4 earlier this season, achieving their longest winning streak (10), setting the most wins in a single season with a 19-4 record, and earning their first CCIW and NCAA tournament berths. 

The Cardinals prepare for their first Regional match on Friday, Apr. 15 as they battle Dominican University for the second time this season in Kenosha, Wis. Match time at the Tarble Arena is set for 6:30 p.m. (CT).
