Jim Miller '86 has announced the hiring of
Nora Schroedter '86 as the new head coach of the Cardinals' men's swimming & diving program.
Schroedter, a North Central graduate and former member of the Cardinal women's swimming & diving program, has more than 35 years of experience as a swimming coach. She has coached both collegiately at the College of DuPage and at the high school level with Benet Academy and Neuqua Valley.
"Nora brings a lifelong connection to swimming in the Naperville area," Miller said. "Nora swam for Hall of Fame coach Dennis Ryan while graduating from North Central College in 1986. Her local ties to so many high school and club programs should prove invaluable as we look to grow our team while providing the men on the team an outstanding swimming and college experience."
In 1994, Schroedter was a founding coach of the Maverick Swim Club in Naperville and served as Team Illinois' Coach and Illinois' Swimming Development Camp Coach. Part of her role there was to counsel high school student-athletes on a college athletic path.
In addition to working at Maverick Swim Club, Schroedter served as a certified personal trainer and cycle/fitness instructor for the Warrenville Park District.
Schroedter is excited about the opportunity to coach where she used to swim for the Cardinals. "I am looking forward to building the program and watching the team improve," said Schroedter.
The North Central College men swimming and diving program is the most decorated program within the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW), with four national championships and 21 conference titles. The team has produced 89 All-Americans along with two Olympians, including an Olympic gold medalist.
"Nora's coaching commitment, enthusiasm, experience for the sport of swimming, and love of North Central College position her perfectly for a successful partnership," said Miller.
Schroedter and the North Central men's swimming & diving program are set to begin its 2022-23 season in October.
