Apr. 5, 2022 - In addition to a sweep against Millikin University and winners of their last seven, the North Central College baseball team picked up their fourth College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week award as Senior
Charlie Klemm was named CCIW Pitcher of the Week this afternoon.
The ninth-ranked Cardinals picked up a pair of wins this weekend at Workman Baseball Stadium, defeating Millikin University 9-5 in game one and 7-3 in game two of their doubleheader before taking down the Big Blue 14-4 inside Zimmerman Stadium.
Klemm, a senior from Darien, Ill., picked up his third win of the season against Millikin on Saturday, Apr. 2 as he pitched seven innings allowing five hits and two runs with six strikeouts. Klemm currently holds a 3-1 record this season with a 3.30 ERA with 32 strikeouts and has held opposing lineups to a .236 batting average.
In his career, Klemm has racked up 207 strikeouts which puts him second for most career strikeouts behind Ben Krusen '15 while having the second-most wins in program history with 21, two wins behind Matt Richards '87. This is the Cardinals' fourth weekly award as Rob Marinec received Hitter of the Week on Feb. 20 and Mar. 8 while Luke Lamm earned Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 20.
