May 2, 2022 - Winning his sixth career College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week award, North Central College baseball player
Charlie Klemm earned this week's distinction for his performance in the Cardinals' win on Sunday which gave North Central their seventh straight CCIW Title.
In the 3-2 win over Elmhurst, Klemm threw 5.0 innings and allowed one hit, zero runs while striking out eight batters. He picked up his seventh win of the season, tied for the most in the CCIW. His eighth and final strikeout of the game tied the North Central baseball program record for career strikeouts with 238.
On the season, Klemm is tied with Jason Shanner with 63 strikeouts, the most on the team. Klemm holds a 3.98 earned run average and has held opponents to a .240 batting average.
His sixth CCIW Player of the Week award is also tied for the most in program history with teammate Rob Marinec who has captured six CCIW Hitter of the Week honors. Klemm, Marinec, Paul Beverly, and Luke Lamm are the five Cardinals' to be named the conference's player of the week this season.
The Cardinals face the University of Dubuque on Wednesday night in their final non-conference game of the season. The contest is set for 5 PM at Zimmerman Stadium.
