GENEVA, Ohio (May 28, 2022) - The North Central College women's track and field team concluded its season by claiming All-America honors in two events Saturday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship, held at SPIRE Sports Complex.
The Cardinals' 4-by-100-meter relay team of
Lindsey Novak,
Julia Babinec,
Marcedes Jackson and
Denise Partee finished seventh in Thursday's preliminary heats with a time of 46.88 seconds. In Saturday's final, running in the outer lane of the nine-lane track, North Central finished in 47.09 seconds to place sixth. It is the Cardinals' first All-American team in the event since 2015.
Less than an hour later, Babinec returned to the track and placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 13.83 seconds. It is the second straight All-America performance in the event for Babinec, who finished sixth in the 2021 championship.
Faith Ladin finished ninth in the javelin throw with a distance of 132 feet, 10 inches (40.49 meters) and
Kathy Myrda placed 17th in the pole vault (11'9.75", 3.60m) Thursday. On Friday, Partee finished 15th in the preliminary heats of the 100-meter hurdles (14.65), and
Alexandra Draves came in ninth in the hammer throw (170'1", 52.27m) Saturday.
With a total of eight points, the Cardinals placed 37th in the team competition.
