D3baseball.com All-Region Teams (Region 8)
May 31, 2022 - Following a season with the second most wins in program history, four members of the North Central College baseball team were selected to the D3baseball.com's All-Region team on Tuesday morning with
Dom Listi earning first team honors. The Cardinals have now had a D3baseball.com First Team All-Region member in each of the past seven seasons.
Listi secured an All-Region selection for the second straight season while Jason Shanner was named to the second team for the first time in his career. Paul Beverly also collected all-region accolades for the first time as he was a third team recipient. Rob Marinec earned his fourth D3baseball All-Region selection as he was chosen to the third team.
Listi led the team in batting average (.374), hits (71), runs (73), walks (40), and on-base percentage (.500). The junior now holds two single-season program records as his 73 runs surpassed Ken Ritter's 63 runs in 1986. He finished fifth in the nation in runs and 12th in walks.
Shanner posted a 3.02 earned run average with a 5-0 record. The senior recorded six saves, 32nd most in DIII baseball, and fifth all-time in program history. He tallied 69 strikeouts which rank ninth for a single season over his 53.2 innings pitched.
Beverly led North Central in RBIs (58), doubles (18), and hit by pitches (23) and ranked second in batting average (.361), hits (65), total bases (100), and on-base percentage (.468). His 18 doubles are tied for sixth in program history and are 26th in the country this season. He finished fifth in the nation with his 23 hit by pitches.
Despite only playing in 22 games, Marinec led the Cardinals with eight home runs. The senior posted a .500 batting average, 37 hits, 40 RBIs, 24 runs, a .878 slugging percentage, and a .500 on-base percentage. Marinec is the active career leader in DIII baseball with 211 career RBIs and is fifth with 401 career total bases.
North Central finished the season with an overall record of 35-14 while capturing its record seventh-straight CCIW Regular Season Championship. The Cardinals also set new program records in hits (558), runs scored (426), RBIs (386), and strikeouts thrown (430).
