2021-22 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Teams

June 22, 2022 - Being one of just three outfielders selected to the 2022 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division III Gold Glove Team, sophomore Luke Lehnen becomes the third North Central College baseball player to earn a Gold Glove award in program history.

The Rawlings Gold Glove winners have been selected since 2007 in the collegiate and high school ranks, featuring many future Major League Baseball players. They are selected by ABCA coaches committees at each level: NCAA Div. I, II & III, NAIA, NJCAA Div. I, II & III, Pacific Association Division, and High School.

Lehnen posted a .986 fielding percentage on the year for the Cardinals with 135 putouts, eight assists, two double plays, and just two errors in 145 total chances. The sophomore did not commit an error in the outfield all season and posted just two errors when moving over to shortstop late in games. At the plate, Lehnen hit .310 with 63 hits, 56 runs, 29 RBIs, and 21 walks. Those 56 runs rank fifth all-time in program history for a single season.

Dan Scott (2010) and Sam Klein (2015) are the two other North Central players to have earned a Gold Glove award for their defensive play as a Cardinal.

The Cardinals' 2023 schedule will be released at a later date.
