ITA NCAA Division III Rankings
June 8, 2022 - Following their best season in program history, the North Central College women's tennis team is ranked No. 11 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division III Central Region rankings of the season.
The Cardinals set a record for the most wins in school history on their way to a 22-6 season, including a perfect 8-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin slate. North Central won both the CCIW Tournament in the fall and the CCIW AQ Tournament this spring to make their second NCAA Tournament appearance. There, the Cardinals secured its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory as they defeated Franciscan University, 5-0 on May 12th.
Kaeli Smashey concludes her 2021-22 season ranked 15th in the Central Region while the Cardinals' winningest duo in program history Hannah Hougland and Alaina Kanthaphixay are ranked 11th in doubles for the region.
The tandem of Natalie Bassett and Smashey set a new single-season record for the best season at the No. 2 doubles position by posting a 21-3 record. Sydney Sawyer also set a new record at No. 6 singles with her 9-1 season.
