KENOSHA, Wis, (Sept. 20, 2022) - Pivoting to play an indoor match last minute, the North Central College women's tennis team never faltered and defeated Carthage College 8-1 for the fourth straight time as the Cardinals won their 20th consecutive CCIW match while improving to 9-0 on the season.

Nina Patience and Mikayla Edquiban captured the first win of the afternoon for North Central as the No. 3 duo won 8-2 before Kaeli Smashey and Natalie Bassett posted an 8-4 win in the No. 1 spot. Finishing the doubles sweep was Abigail Penados and Kensington Payne who earned a hard-fought 8-5 victory at No. 2.

Penados began singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 2 position. Clinching the match for the Cardinals was Bassett who tallied a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3 before Payne won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Edquiban and Kayla McSweeney each tallied wins in their respective positions to record the 8-1 win for North Central.

The Cardinals host two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matches on Saturday as they face Illinois Wesleyan University at 9 a.m. before taking on North Park University at 2 p.m.
