Jan. 24, 2023 - For the fifth time this season, the North Central College men's wrestling team was honored by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) as Alex Villar was named Wrestler of the Week. 

Seventh-ranked Villar posted a 2-0 record last week, delivering a big win over ninth-ranked Nathan Callaway in the Cardinals commanding 40-2 win over 19th-ranked Millikin University. In that match against Callaway, both wrestlers were tied at zero and with 30 seconds left Villar overpowered Callaway to win the match via fall. Villar also received a win by forfeit in the Cardinals 49-6 win over Concordia University (Wis.).

Villar and the seventh-ranked Cardinals are back in action on Friday as they travel to Wheaton College for the Pete Willson Invitational. The action is set to start at 11 am inside King Arena.
