Jan. 31, 2023 - Despite a quick turnaround from Saturday's contest against Dominican University, the North Central College men's volleyball team completed their fourth 3-0 sweep of the season against the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders at Tuesday's match inside Gregory Arena.

The No. 12 Cardinals move to a 4-2 record so far this season with their win over the MSOE Raiders (1-2). North Central made quick work of the first set as kills by Tyler Donovan and Jared Moser doubled the score to lead 8-4 early on. Austin Scott picked up a service ace and a kill to stretch that lead to 16-10 before the Raiders found three straight points to bring the score back within two at 17-15. Taking it two points at a time, North Central secured the opening set win 25-19 with a kill from Scott.

The Cardinals battled point-for-point for much of the second set before MSOE scored three-straight points to set the score at 16-18, still in favor of the Cardinals. North Central answered back with four-consecutive points of their own to pull ahead 22-16. Two kills by Scott and a final kill by Moser put the Cardinals at a 25-20 advantage to take the set two victory.

MSOE took an early lead in set three with three straight points to lead 4-1. A couple of Raider errors and a kill by Jake Miller gave North Central a 10-6 lead before MSOE's Carter Shavitz chipped away at the Cardinal lead with a trio of kills to bring the score to a narrow 12-11 North Central lead. Miller and Jeremy Cardenas picked up a kill each to bring the score to 21-17. With back-and-forth points for the remainder of the set, North Central prevailed with a 25-21 set victory.

Scott and Miller shared the team high of 12 kills each while Donovan added 32 assists to his season stat line. Cardenas picked up three blocks while Miller and Donovan each had two. Miller and Ben Pluskota both had eight digs on the night while Scott and Michael Szews tallied one service ace each.

The Cardinals enter a brief hiatus from competition before returning to action on Feb. 8 as they travel to Mequon, Wisconsin to take on Concordia-Wis. at 7 p.m. inside Buuck Field House.
