DELEWARE, OH. (Sept. 30, 2023) – The North Central College women's soccer team made the trek out to face the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops. In route to a 6-2 victory, Kaitlyn Cannon and Elle Sutter made program history with, Cannon obtaining her 19th career assist and Sutter acquiring her 33rd season point.

North Central (8-2) got the ball rolling early just 12 minutes in when, Sarah Andrey connected with an open Elle Sutter in stride, notching the score 1-0.

The Cardinals did not give the Bishops a chance to reorganize as Jordan Lange found room for her first goal of the game in the 19th minute, after an assist from Yazmin Martinez.

Ohio Wesleyan (5-3-2) struggled to respond on defense as North Central history was etched, when another gap was exploited with a second goal from Sutter that helped Kaitlyn Cannon obtain her 19th career assist. This broke a twenty-two yearlong record from Christie Guido with 18 career assists.

The Bishops obtained a penalty kick goal in the 36th minute from Ryan O'Neill to inch the score to 3-1.

As Ohio Wesleyan attempted to continue their offense, a goal from Sophia Hein halted the effort with just forty-four seconds left, as a connection from Erin Jaskierski iced the score 4-1 to end the half.

Opening the final half, the Cardinals drove down field early just seven minutes in, with Sutter and Andrey connecting to Lange for a goal to stagger the Bishops, 5-1. Sutter's assist notched her season points to 33, allowing her to break the 14 year long single season record held dually by Laura Peterson and Nicole Walsh.

After dueling offensive efforts up and down the field, North Central did not find room again until Andrey found room again in the 87th minute to put the match 6-1.

A final effort from Bishops' Jordyn Adams and Caroline Thomas with just six seconds left, finalized the score 6-2.

In total the Cardinals took 27 shots with 20 on goal with Jordan Boyd to saving the ball six times. The Bishops goalkeeper had 14 saves while allowing six.

The North Central women's soccer team continues their two-game road trip at Wheaton College. The game start time is set for 7 p.m. on October 4th at Joe Bean Stadium.
