Contact: Tyler Bremner, Sports Information Graduate Assistant

Oct. 4, 2023 – The North Central College women's soccer team traveled to face their second CCIW opponent of the season in the Wheaton College Thunder. While storming past the Thunder 4-0, Elle Sutter broke her second record of the year with her 39th career goal.

The North Central College (10-2, 2-0 CCIW) offense did not have to wait long, as Elle Sutter capitalized off a relay from Jordan Lange, just two minutes into the game to tearing the score 1-0.

A battle over offensive possession would ensue for the remainder of the half as both teams traded shots on goal, forcing two saves from Jordan Boyd and six saves from Thunder's Myah Schoolman.

Opening the second half, the Cardinals found another scoring opportunity when Brooke Nelson connected with Sutter for her second goal of the game.

This comes just two minutes into the half putting Sutter in position to break her second program record of the year, after breaking the single-season record for points (33).

With the match starting to look out of reach for Wheaton College (2-6-3, 1-1 CCIW), North Central found room again in the 58th minute as Lange set up a Sarah Andrey in stride to pile on the score 3-0.

As the Thunder were still reeling from the last goal, Kaitlyn Cannon would connect with Sutter to help her break the program record with her 39th career goal. This broke a ten-year long record held by Hope Stayer.

With the game fully on ice at 4-0, Wheaton College struggled to find rhythm on offense as they were held in total to eleven shots with six on target. North Central fired off a staggering thirty-six shots with twenty attempts on goal.

On defense, Wheaton's Myah Schoolman held off fourteen attempts by the Cardinals offense while Jordan Boyd saved six scoring attempts to obtain her second shutout of the season.

The North Central College women's soccer team returns home for a two-game stint, on Saturday October 7th. The game start time is set for 11 a.m. at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
