DECATUR, Ill. (Oct. 18, 2023) – The North Central College women's soccer team traveled to face Millikin University for their sixth CCIW conference matchup, stymying them 3-0 at Frank M. Lindsay Field while breaking their third single-season player record.

North Central (13-2, 6-0 CCIW) started the matchup not securing their first shot on goal until the 16th minute, when Kaitlyn Cannon fired off a shot that was just barely saved by Sophie Dorgan at goal.

The Cardinals found the ball again just sixty seconds later as Kassandra Salviola secured possession with a pass to Elle Sutter to make the score 1-0.

After a short battle in midfield, Millikin (6-5-2, 2-2-2 CCIW) secured their first and only goal attempt of the matchup with a shot from Bailee Blecker that Jordan Boyd secured.

North Central put up another seven shots before halftime, two of which being on target.

Entering the second half, a costly foul by Millikin set up a penalty kick for North Central. Katie Huey rocketed the kick past Dorgan forcing the score to 2-0 just four minutes into the half.

The Cardinals did not have to wait long as two minutes later, Cannon connected with Holly Helmers for her first goal of the season to seal the score 3-0. This marked Cannon's tenth assist of the season smashing the twenty-four year long hold by Amanda Rich.

Millikin attempted to reset the offense but, North Central maintained their dominant seventy percent possession time to stymie the effort.

In total Jordan Boyd and the defense earned their tenth shutout of the season while Millikin's Dorgan earned seven saves.

North Central College women's soccer plays their second to last regular conference matchup against Illinois Wesleyan University. Kick-off is set for 12 p.m. at Neis Field.
