CCIW Press Release
Oct. 31, 2023 - In the final installment of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Player of the Week Awards, the North Central College men's soccer team receive both, Defensive and Offensive, awards.
Peter Kimba, a transfer from Quincy University, earned his first career Defensive Player of the Week Award. Kimba and the Cardinals' defense allowed Augustana College no shots on goal in Wednesday's game (Oct. 25). Kimba also scored two goals for North Central in the 5-0 shutout against Augustana. Kimba currently has three goals in his first year with the Cardinals.
Tommaso Polidori, a defender from Rome, Italy, tallied his second Player of the Week award this season. This is his first Offensive Award, as he received the Defensive Award earlier this season (
Oct. 17th). Polidori played center back against Augustana but was still a dangerous threat on offense. He scored the first two goals for the Cardinals, including the gaming-winning goal. The freshman has now tallied four goals and one assist this season. Last Thursday, Polidori was named
CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year as well.
Nacho Diaz of Millikin University's men's soccer team was also selected as a Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Diaz scored two goals for the Big Blue in their final regular season game against Wheaton College.
Kimba, Polidori, and the men's soccer team take on Carthage College on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the CCIW Semifinals. To stay tuned in to the game click
