AFCA Week 6 Top 25 Poll
Oct. 9, 2023 - North Central College remains in the No. 1 spot in both NCAA Division III Top 25 football polls this week, securing nearly all the first-place votes in the D3football.com and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 Polls.
The Cardinals (5-0, 4-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) won their 20th consecutive game Saturday, defeating CCIW rival Carroll University, 69-24, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. North Central currently owns a 31-game winning streak in non-conference games and a 28-game winning streak in CCIW play. North Central has won its last 24 games at home.
The Cardinals received all 25 first-place votes in the D3football.com Poll to claim the No. 1 spot, followed by the University of Mount Union (Ohio). North Central defeated the Purple Raiders, 28-21, in the 2022 national championship game at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.
Wartburg College (Iowa) is ranked No. 3 this week, followed by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Trinity University (Texas), the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Saint John's University (Minnesota), Linfield College (Oregon) and Johns Hopkins University (Maryland).
The Cardinals received 48 of 49 first-place votes in the AFCA Poll. Mount Union is ranked second, followed by Wartburg, Wisconsin-River Falls, Linfield, Trinity, Johns Hopkins, Saint John's, Wisconisn-La Crosse and Randolph-Macon College (Virginia).
