2022-23 Academic All-District^® Women's Basketball Teams

Feb. 21, 2023 - Earning the first College Sports Communicators Academic All-District award for the North Central College women's basketball team since 2015, four Cardinals are honored for their hard work both in the classroom and on the court.

Nominated by members of CSC, honorees are recognized as the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in the classroom and on the basketball court. Sydney Erwin, Megan McClure, Mitrese Smith, and Natalie Stavropoulos are the selections for the 2023-23 CSC Academic All-District Team.

Stavropoulos, an elementary education major, was also named to the All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Second Team this past week. She led the CCIW in assists (92) while ranking ninth in scoring (12.4 points per game). The two-time Academic All-CCIW member posted a career-high 23 points against Concordia Wisconsin on November 26th.

Smith, who is pursuing a master's of organizational leadership, averaged 10.3 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per contest. The four-time Academic All-CCIW honoree scored a career-high 23 points against Elmhurst on December 17th.

McClure, an actuarial science major, ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 8.1 points per game and led the team in rebounds with 150. Her best performance of the season came against Concordia Chicago when she racked up 22 points and 15 rebounds.

Erwin, an elementary education major, played in all 24 games this season, starting three. The two-time Academic All-CCIW selection tallied six points on two three-pointers against Concordia Wisconsin. 

These Cardinals mark the most Academic All-District selections in program history. Academic All-District honorees automatically advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on March 15th.
