Feb. 22, 2023 - North Central College women's track and field student-athletes
Lindsey Novak and
Alexandra Draves claimed the program's third-straight sweep of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Track and Field Student-Athletes of the Week honors. The CCIW announced its selections on Wednesday.
Not only is this the third-consecutive week of Novak and Draves sweeping the CCIW weekly awards, but it is also their fifth time this season doing so. Novak turned in a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash on Friday in a time of 57.11 seconds. She currently sits second in the CCIW and seventh nationally. Novak shares this week's track honor with Elmhurst University's Ava David who won both the 60-meter dash (7.70) and the 200-meter dash (25.29) at the F. Lee Slick Invite.
Draves continues on her run of record breaks in the weight throw as she completed an 18.34-meter throw to take the event win on Friday. She ranks first in the CCIW and third in the nation with her new mark. Draves also finished fourth in the shot put at Friday's meet (10.67m).
North Central heads to Bloomington, Illinois on Friday, February 24th as Illinois Wesleyan University hosts the CCIW Championship Meet at the Shirk Center. The competition is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Friday and will continue into Saturday.
