ORLANDO, Fla. (Mar. 13, 2023) - Taking on No. 29 Denison University on a wet and rainy day in Orlando, the North Central College women's tennis team lost to the Big Red 6-2 on Monday afternoon.
Following three Big Red wins in singles play, Mikayla Edquiban overcame a 6-1 loss in the first set to win the match 1-6, 6-4, 10-5, claiming the first victory for the Cardinals. Taking on the No. 13 ranked singles player in the Central Region, Abigail Penados went the distance with Sydeny Cianciola and defeated her 0-6, 6-3, 12-10 in the No. 1 spot, forcing the match to doubles play.
Denison clinched the match with two wins in doubles play as they match was played to a decision because of the rain.
The Cardinals match against the University of Wisconsin-Superior was canceled due to the weather as well. They take on Macalester on Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. (ET).
