GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. (Mar. 25, 2023) - Taking on their first opponent of the weekend in Michigan, the North Central College women's lacrosse team fell to Calvin University 23-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights (4-4) found the back of the net just 51 seconds into the game but Tanya Czosek found Abbey Triebe to level the score at one with 12:48 remaining in the first quarter. Just thirty seconds later, the Knights regained their lead as Meghan Chang scored an unassisted goal. With 6:36 remaining, Czosek made a defender miss and found her way to the front of the net where she buried her shot past the Knight's goalkeeper to tie the game at two. The Knight's ended the first quarter with a three goal stretch to extend their lead to 5-2.
Lucy Culig beat a defender across the middle of the field and found Triebe for her second goal of the game to cut the deficit to two with 12:37 left in the first half. However, the Knights would score 18 unanswered goals to down the Cardinals 23-3.
The Cardinals head to Albion College tomorrow, March 26 for a non-conference matchup with the Brittons at 1 pm EST inside Alumni Stadium.
