NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Mar. 29, 2023) - The North Central College women's lacrosse team couldn't slow down Aurora University's high-powered offense as they fell 19-4 on Wednesday night at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. 

The Spartans (7-1) opened up the scoring just 57 seconds into the game to give them an early 1-0 lead. The Spartans did not look back, scoring seven more unanswered goals to bring the score to 8-0 but Abby MacKenzie found Abbey Triebe with 7:54 left in the second quarter to cut the deficit to seven. After the Spartans increased their lead to nine, MacKenzie and Triebe hooked up for another goal with 2:17 left to give the Spartans a 10-2 advantage. The Spartans would close the half with a goal, sending them into the half with an 11-2 lead. 

Aurora came out firing once again, scoring four unanswered goals to start the third quarter to give them a 15-2 lead but Raygn Jordan went coast-to-coast, scoring her second goal of the season to cut the deficit to 12. After the Spartans extended their lead to 15, MacKenzie found the back of the net herself to bring the score to 18-4. Aurora scored with 45 seconds remaining and held off the Cardinals to win 19-4. 

The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, April 1 as they host UW-River Falls at 11 am inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
