NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Mar. 4, 2023) - Facing DePauw in the Cardinals' final match before their spring break trip, the North Central College men's tennis team was upended by the Tigers on Saturday evening inside Naperville Tennis Club, 6-3.
Matthew Sengphommachanh and Colten Way teamed up for an 8-2 win over Finley Buelte and Jacob Watson at No. 3 doubles. DePauw took No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to hold a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.
After the Tigers won at No. 5 and No. 4, Sengphommachanh claimed an 8-5, 6-4 win at No. 3 to keep the Cardinals alive. Ramon Vilarroig Martinez earned a three-set win at No. 1 over Thomas Partridge. DePauw clinched the match with a win at No. 2 singles.
North Central heads to Floridanext weekend to begin a four-match spring break trip. They face Transylvania on March 12th at 12 p.m. (E.T.).
