ELMHURST, Ill. (Apr. 19, 2023) - The North Central College women's lacrosse snapped a seven game losing streak Wednesday afternoon as they took down the Elmhurst University Bluejays 17-0 at Langhorst Field after the game was shortened by thunderstorms.

The Cardinals (4-10, 1-2 CCIW) wasted no time, scoring two goals within 46 seconds of the opening whistle as Abby MacKenzie and Abbey Triebe each netted a goal. MacKenzie found the back of the net for the second time just seventeen seconds later to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. Lucy Culig found the back of the net with 13:02 remaining in the first quarter for her sixteenth goal of the season. North Central would score three more unanswered goals, two from Tanya Czosek and one from Julie Clarke, to give them a 7- 0 advantage heading into the second quarter.

The Cardinals offense kept rolling as Triebe netted her second goal of the game with 13:02 remaining before MacKenzie scored back-to-back goals to give the Cardinals a 10-0 lead. Abby Tointon finished off a Czosek assist later in the second quarter before Triebe scored an unassisted goal with eleven seconds to play, sending the Cardinals into halftime with a 12-0 lead.

Ellie Gosselin got the scoring started in the second half as she netted an unassisted goal before Czosek found the back of the net for the third and final time of the night with 10:53 remaining in the third quarter. After a yellow card was awarded to the Bluejays, MacKenzie and Culig each scored a woman-up goal to give the Cardinals a 16-0 lead. Culig would net her third and final goal of the night with 6:25 remaining in the third before the game was called due to thunderstorms in the area.
