PLAINFIELD, Ill. (Apr. 20, 2023) - Competing as the No. 1 seed in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament, the North Central College women's tennis team won the first five matches to advance to the next round of the event.

Natalie Bassett and Abigail Penados swept the Bluejays at No. 1 while Nina Patience and Mikayla Edquiban also cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 3. Kensington Payne and Anastasia Bozovic earned an 8-3 win in the No. 2 spot to put the Cardinals just two singles wins away from a victory.

Payne picked up the first win in singles action with a compelling 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 before Patience won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Penados, Bassett, Edquiban, and Kayla McSweeney were all ahead in their respective matches before Patience clinched the match as North Central won 5-0 over Elmhurst.

The Cardinals face Augustana College tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the CCIW Tournament Semifinals. The match is set to take place at Nike Park in Naperville.
