NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Apr. 21, 2023) - Advancing to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Championship for the third straight season, the North Central College women's tennis team swept doubles play on their way to a 6-0 win over Augustana College on Friday at Nike Park.

Abigail Penados and Natalie Bassett rolled to an 8-2 win in the No. 1 fixture while the Cardinals No. 3 unit of Nina Patience and Mikayla Edquiban won 8-3. Completing the sweep, Kensington Payne and Anastasia Bozovic won 8-4 at the No. 2 position.

Needing just two singles matches to clinch the victory, Penados cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win before Patience and Payne earned a simultaneous win to secure the win for North Central. Bassett, Edquiban, and Kayla McSweeney all won their first set matches before the match was clinched.

The Cardinals take on the winner of No. 2 Millikin University and No. 3 Wheaton College tomorrow. The CCIW Tournament Championship match is set for 1 p.m. inside at Naperville Tennis Club.
