WHEATON, Ill. (Apr. 27, 2023) - In the first round of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament, the North Central College men's tennis team cruised to another sweep of Elmhurst University on Thursday morning at the Wheaton College Tennis Courts. 

Taking advantage of a forfeit at No. 3 doubles from Elmhurst, Ramon Vilarroig Martinez and Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez made quick work of the Bluejays No. 1 duo with an 8-0 win. Javier Suarez Balsera and Colten Way also took care of business with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

Due to an Elmhurst forfeit at No. 5 singles, the Cardinals only needed one singles victory to move onto the CCIW Tournament semifinals. Gonzalez Fernandez rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 to clinch the victory. Suarez Balsera, Matthew Sengphommachanh, Matt Crossland, and Daniel Urraca Mozos all earned first set victories prior to the clinch.

The top-seeded Cardinals will face the winner of No. 4 Wheaton vs No. 5 Augustana College tomorrow in the semifinals at 11 a.m.
