MADISON, Wis. (Apr. 8, 2023) - Finishing up the Midwest Invitational, the North Central College women's tennis team lost 6-3 to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the final match of the Midwest Invitational as the Cardinals took sixth place for the event.

Abigail Penados and Natalie Bassett earned an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles against the No. 7 ranked doubles team in the Central region, Autumn Bruno and Cassie Lee. The Warhawks took No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to hold a 2-1 advantage going into singles play.

UW-Whitewater won the first three singles matches to clinch the victory. Penados rolled to a win at No. 1 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against the No. 8 ranked singles player in the region. To close out the match, Bassett overcame a first set 6-4 loss to win in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 over No. 18 Gianna Nikoleit.

The Cardinals and Warhawks face off again on April 16th to close out their regular season. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.m at Lake Geneva Tennis Club.
