Novak Claims Pair of All-American Honors at NCAAs

ROCHESTER, New York (May 27, 2023) - The North Central College women's track and field team concluded its 2023 season at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Rochester, New York as Lindsey Novak came away with two All-American honors in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes on Saturday.

Novak had a full weekend of competition having run in the 4-by-100 meter relay preliminary round on Thursday where she and teammates Marcedes Jackson, Julia Babinec, and Denise Partee finished 10th overall in 47.22 seconds. Two hours later, Novak turned in a 24.63-second 200-meter dash time in the preliminary round to advance to Saturday's final with the seventh-fastest time in the field. She returned to the track on Friday for the 400-meter dash prelims where she won her heat in 55.60 seconds to have the third fastest time out of prelims. 

Novak clocked a 56.25-second effort in the 400-meter finals to finish fifth overall before turning in an eighth-place effort in the 200-meter finals. Novak becomes the first woman in program history to claim All-American honors in both the 200 and 400-meters in the same championship. 

Babinec narrowly missed qualifying for the 100-meter hurdle finals having turned in a ninth-place finish in prelims with a 13.92-second run. Partee finished 14th overall in 14.18 seconds. Jackson also competed in the 100-meter dash turning in a 12.09-second run to finish 16th. The 4-by-400-meter relay team of Cali Minkie, Kyla Miller, Annie Brandt, and Hannah Jones crossed the finish line in four minutes, 4.42 seconds, also finishing in 16th place. 

Alexandra Draves made her third appearance in the hammer throw at an outdoor national championship, this time finishing in 10th place with her best throw of 53.59 meters (175'10"). 

Faith Ladin turned in a personal best in the heptathlon of 4,601 points where she finished 13th overall. Ladin finished third in the heptathlon javelin throw with a throw of 40.22 meters (131'11") and clocked a personal best effort in the 800-meter run in two minutes, 26.21 seconds. 

North Central scored five points at the championships to finish 49th while UW-La Crosse claimed the team title with 67.5 points. Loras's 58 points were good for second place while Washington (Mo.) compiled 51 points for third.
