D3baseball.com All-Region 8 Team

May 29, 2023 - Having an All-Region honoree for the 10th straight season, relief pitcher Nolan Shannon of the North Central College baseball team has been named a d3baseball.com First Team All-Region selection, the organization released on Monday.

Shannon, a first-time All-Region selection, recorded more saves (5) than hits he allowed (4) this season out of the Cardinals bullpen. He also posted a 4-0 record with a 0.52 ERA in his 17.1 innings pitched. Shannon allowed just one earned run in 14 appearances while striking out 27 batters. His five saves rank sixth most in a single-season in program history. For his career, Shannon has nine saves which is tied for fifth in the career record books for a Cardinals' pitcher.

Shannon is the 19th player in North Central history to earn a d3baseball.com All-Region honor and the 11th to be named a First Team selection. 

With this selection, Shannon advances to the d3baseball.com All-American ballot. He looks to become the 7th Cardinal to be chosen to a d3baseball.com All-American team. The 2023 All-Americans will be announced on Wednesday.
