June 12, 2023 - Kristin Ison has been named the North Central College assistant women's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator. North Central Athletics and head coach Maggie McCloskey-Bax announced the move in June.

"Kristin shares a passion for the Division III level and really making an impact on the student-athlete experience," McCloskey-Bax said. "She is someone with an extremely successful background and a great recruiting network. Kristin will bring positive energy to the program and be an asset to the staff and student-athletes with her knowledge of the game."

Ison's most recent coaching experience comes at Lake Forest College where she served as an assistant coach. Prior to her time with the Foresters, she was the director of girls' youth basketball at All In Athletics in Deerfield and the owner/head trainer at Northwest Skills in Palatine. Ison also has high school coaching experience in Arizona, California, and most recently in Illinois at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire.

Ison played collegiate basketball at Northwestern University, graduating in 2010 with a communications degree. She led the Big Ten and was 11th in the nation in free-throw percentage her junior season. Ison is also 12th all-time in program history for games played (120).

"Kristin will be an asset to our post players on the court and will bring a variety of coaching/playing experiences to our program. Having played at a high level of basketball, she knows the balance and work ethic it takes to succeed. She has a passion for the student-athlete experience and is excited about the opportunities offered at North Central. She will be another strong voice for our players to hear and we are looking forward to seeing her impact on the campus community," said McCloskey-Bax.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be an assistant basketball coach at North Central College," said Ison. "The opportunity to work with such talented student-athletes and be a member of this passionate basketball staff is incredibly exciting. Joining such a respected college and successful athletic program is extremely motivating and I cannot wait to be a part of it and help make a positive impact on both the players and the North Central community."

Ison officially began her role on Monday, June 12th. The Cardinals open their season on Friday, November 10th as they participate in the Wisconsin Lutheran College Tournament.
