2023 ABCA NCAA DIII All-Region Defensive Team

June 22, 2023 - Coming off of a 2022 campaign that saw North Central College baseball player Luke Lehnen win a Rawlings Gold Glove award, Lehnen has been named to the 2023 American Baseball Coaches Association Region 8 All-Defensive Team.

Lehnen played primarily in center field this season while moving to shortstop for a few games early in the season. In the outfield, he posted a .975 fielding percentage with 77 putouts and only two errors on the year. The junior played and started in 39 of the Cardinals' 41 games.

Offensively, Lehnen hit .284 with 30 runs, 25 RBI, five doubles, three triples, and two home runs. He also drew 13 walks and stole 10 bases in 12 attempts this season. He ranks second in program history for career triples (16), sixth for career stolen bases (44), and seventh for runs scored (144).

Kyle Gibson (Millikin University) was the only other player represented in the list from a CCIW institution. The Cardinals finished the season 27-14 with a 12-6 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin mark. This season is the ninth straight season North Central has had 25 or more victories.
