2022-23 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award
 
July 26, 2023 - For the sixth consecutive season, the North Central College baseball team has earned the American Baseball Coaches Association's Team Academic Excellence Award for their success in the classroom throughout the 2022-23 school year.
 
The Team Academic Excellence Award has been issued by the ABCA for the last eight seasons, being awarded to programs being coached by ABCA affiliates and that held an average GPA of over 3.0 on an unweighted scale. More than 450 collegiate programs nationwide have received the award in the 2022-2023 school year for their achievements in the classroom.
 
North Central is among 162 NCAA Division III schools to be so honored, including six from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW).
 
North Central's 2023 campaign ended with a 27-14 overall record and a 12-6 conference record. Five Cardinals earned All-CCIW awards with Nolan Shannon, Ryan Behling, and Rob Marinec getting named to All-Region teams. Shannon also secured a fourth-team All-American honor by D3baseball.com.
