Sept. 23, 2023 – The North Central College women's soccer team faced their first CCIW opponent, the Elmhurst University Bluejays on Saturday, overpowering them 7-0 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Beginning the matchup, the Cardinals (7-2) found offensive power early with a drive from Madelyn Camaioni connecting with Elle Sutter, putting them ahead 1-0 in under five minutes.

The Bluejays (4-2-1) continued to find themselves on the backfoot after multiple shots ending in the 15th minute, with a fiery shot from Sarah Andrey with help from Camaioni to light up the scoreboard, 2-0.

The offense was not finished yet as Jordan Lange set up Sutter to fire off her second goal in the 23rd minute, for her 12th goal of the season.

Andrey followed up just two minutes later with another setup by Lange, scoring her second goal of the game helping North Central close the half with a four-goal lead.

The Cardinals fired up all cylinders on offense again three minutes into the second half, as Yazmin Martinez helped Andrey obtain her third goal of the game and twelfth of the season.

As North Central continued to dominate, the offense began a morale shattering chain of goals as Martinez and Lange put up goals within a minute of each other.

With the game firmly out of reach of the Bluejays, the Cardinals did not allow a single shot on defense to ice the game 7-0.

In total Elmhurst goal keeper, Megan Kleve was able to fend of ten scoring attempts, while the Cardinals defense shut down any scoring attempt.

The North Central College women's soccer team completes their homestand against the Wartburg College Knights. The game is scheduled for Tuesday Sept. 26th at 7 p.m. in Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
