WHEATON, Ill (Sept. 27, 2023) - Taking on Wheaton College, the North Central College women's tennis team downed the Thunder 8-1 to win their 39th straight conference win and improve to 8-0 on the season.

The Cardinals' No. 1 duo of Abigail Penados and Natalie Bassett picked up their seventh win of the season to remain unbeaten in dual matches this season with an 8-3 win. Kensington Payne and Anastasia Bozovic cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 2 while Kate Herlihy and Nina Patience complete the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win in the No. 3 spot.

Penados earned the first win in singles play, 6-1, 6-1, before Payne clinched the match victory with a 6-2, 7-5 win in the No. 3 singles position. Bassett, Nina Patience, and Herlihy all picked up wins for the Cardinals as well.

North Central hosts the other unbeaten team in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, Augustana College, on Sunday at 12 p.m. The match will be played at the Benet Academy Tennis Courts in Lisle.
