NORTHFIELD, Minn. (Sept. 3, 2023) – The Cardinals get shut down on offense by a stifling Carleton Knight defense holding them scoreless in their second ever matchup in program history.
The Carleton Knights would come out swinging making
Jordan Boyd fend off four shots to keep the game scoreless into the half. The Cardinals would only take three shots in the first 45 minutes of regulation.
It wouldn't take long for the first goal of the game as in the 56
th minute of regulation Cate Patterson would head the ball past the Cardinals defense to break the scoreless stalemate.
In retaliation, the Cardinals would fire off five shots at the Knights defense before the 68
th minute of the game where the final score would be sealed to 2-0 with a shot from the Knights own Ashlyn Haigh.
The Cardinals would shoot just three more times taking a total of 13 in the game to the Knights 10.
Jordan Boyd would record 5 saves on the day bringing her total on the year to 7.
The Cardinals complete their first road trip of the season at 1-1 and return to campus for their home opener on Sept. 6
th against Dominican University at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
