Warrenville, Ill. (Sept 8, 2023) North Central College men's cross country team let their freshman show up and show out at the NCCXC Invitational. The Cardinals won the invitational with 31 points taking three of the top five spots.  

The first Cardinal across the line in the 8,000-meter invitational was Kal Hoppe in a time of 26:14 to finish first. Battling him to the line was his teammate Nolan Crooks in 26:15. Placing fifth overall was Bryce Chamberlain(26:57.8) placing 11th Hayden Grotelueschen(27:17.4) placing 13th Caleb Kernaghan(27:21) to round out the Cardinal scorers. 

Finishing in second place would be Harper College with 61 points, third is Illinois Tech with 90 points, fourth is Joliet Junior College with 96 points, and then Judson University with 104 points.  

The Cardinals will split up again next weekend as they compete at Michigan State University in the Spartan Invitational Sept. 15th and also the Gill Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College on Sept 16th.
