Jan. 23, 2024 - North Central College men's wrestler Christian Guzman has claimed the Conference College of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week honor. This is Guzman's second of the season as well as the second of his career. 

Guzman claims this award after going 2-0 in his matches this past week. One of these victories included defeating the No. 2 wrestler in the 125-pound weight class, Zac Blasioli of Millikin University with a 4-1 decision solidifying his ranking at No. 1. This helped propel the Cardinals to a 32-7 victory over Millikin. 

In the CCIW Duals Guzman also defeated Jesse Johnson of Millwaukee School of Engineering with a 17-1 technical fall to help the team to a 46-5 victory.

Guzman and North Central College will compete next in the Pete Willson Invitational on Jan 26 and 27 at Wheaton College for a two day competition.
