NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Jan. 27, 2024) - Taking on Olivet Nazarene University to kick off their 2024 spring season, the North Central College men's tennis team swept doubles play on their way to a 7-2 victory over the Tigers on Saturday evening inside Naperville Tennis Club.

Wyatt Crowell and Guillermo Gonzalez Fernadnez picked up a 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles while Ramon Villaroig Martinez and Matthew Sengphommachanh cruised to an 8-2 win in the No. 2 position. Completing the doubles sweep was Rafael Lessa and Justin Penados who fought for an 8-6 at No. 3.

Sengphommachanh recorded the first singles win for the Cardinals with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 before Vilarroig Martinez clinched the team victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 1 fixture. Crowell posted a hard fought 7-6, 6-7, 10-7 win at No. 4. Gonzalez Fernandez also earned a win at No. 6, 6-1, 6-2.

North Central faces No. 10 University of Chicago on Friday night at XS Tennis in Chicago, First serve is set for 6 p.m.
