CCIW Athlete of the Week 
Jan 9, 2024 - The North Central College men's wrestling team hosts the Conference College of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week. Christian Guzman has won his first of these awards following an undefeated weekend at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals including a ranked opponent. Guzman is also the No. 2 wrestler in the 125-pound weight class according to NWCA.  

Guzman wrestled three times during the competition and won all three times. In his first match he won in a 4-2 decision over No. 1 Jacob Decatur (Baldwin and Wallace). On the second day Guzman won both of his matches with a technical fall. Against Augsburg University he defeated Austin Laudenbach in a 26-10 technical fall and in the third-place match he bested Austin Laudenbach with an 18-1 technical fall.  

Guzman's is the third Cardinal this season to win the award along with teammates Bradley Rosen and Payton Geigner.  

Guzman and the Cardinals are back in action this Thursday, Jan 11 as they take on Elmhurst University in the Battle of The Birds Nest.
