ELMHURST, Ill. (Oct. 12, 2024) - The North Central College women's soccer team shut out Elmhurst University 7-0 for the second consecutive season, while
Kassandra Salviola netted a career high of three goals.
Â
The Cardinals quickly got to work putting shots on goal, while Salviola even hit the top woodwork of the Bluejays net. Salviola got her revenge in the 16th minute when
Madelyn Camaioni and
Elle Sutter worked together to deliver Salviola the ball. With possession of the ball, Camaioni sent a strike into the net. Only four minutes later, Salviola tallied her second goal of the night off a pass from
Gabriella Galvez.
Â
North Central's offense continued to dominate the field and gained momentum after every goal. In the 29th minute, Sutter passed the ball up to
Sarah Andrey. Andrey found space to shoot the ball past the Bluejays goalkeeper, Erin Fitzharris, and increase the Cardinal's lead to three. After helping to set up two Cardinal teammates, it was Sutter's turn to land a strike into the back of the net with a pass from Salviola and finish off the scoring chances in the first half. North Central headed into halftime up 4-0.
Â
Setting up for the second half, Elmhurst sent out a fresh goalkeeper, Megan Kleve. At the same time, the Cardinals were ready to pick up right where they left off. Just four minutes into the half, North Central struck again when Salviola finished off her hat trick. The Cardinal's offense continued to take chances, and in the 63rd minute, their work paid off.
Erin Jaskierski connected with
Chandlar Lay, who netted the Cardinal's sixth goal of the game. With 15 minutes left in the game,
Emmi Doty found
Ariana Marshall open. Marshall delivered the ball into the back of the net and sealed the Cardinals win, 7-0.
Â
North Central outshot Elmhurst 40 to three with 24 shots on goal, while Elmhurst recorded no shots on goal. Salviola led the Cardinals offense with three goals and one assist.
Â
