DECATUR, Ill. (Oct. 18, 2024) – The North Central College men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell short in a double dual against Millikin University (217-114) and Illinois College (225-129) at the Decatur Family YMCA.
On the women's side,
Raia Uvakova led the team taking two first-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (26.93) and 100-yard freestyle (59.25).
Abigael Sheldon also took third place in the 50-yard freestyle (27.36) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.48). The 100-yard butterfly had
Celina McDaniel take a third-place position (1:08.53) with
Amelia Minarik following in fourth (1:17.80).
Victoria Robinson finished in fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:22.25. As a team, the women finished in second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:05.96) between the efforts of Uvakova, Sheldon, McDaniel, and Minarik.
The men's side saw
Mihir Chandra take home first in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.08) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.60).
Jack Newman took a fourth-place time in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.40) while
Julius Markowski followed behind in fifth (2:07.53). North Central's
Brennan Powell represented the team in the middle of the pack at fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:23.66). The Cardinals also locked down the third through fifth best times in the 100-yard freestyle between
Clark Wilson (55.43), Markowski (56.00), and Newman (56.83).
